Materials Control Manager

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Sheridan, US

Opportunity:

  • Design and implement a world-class Material flow and inventory management system that seamlessly integrates with
    the Lean Manufacturing process.
  • Direct and coordinates materials management functions through strategy, resource optimization, profitability maximization, and KPIs to maximize internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Directing the workforce to meet approved productions schedules with the budget cost.
  • Design, implement and maintain the material flow and conveyance processes within the facility by troubleshooting and preventing material shortages or bottlenecks by determining cause and designing, testing, validating, and implementing solutions and systems for Kohler AFO.
  • Design supermarket, Kanban’s, smart-buffers and other advanced material storage or replenishment solutions for a Lean material storage, put away, picking and kitting process.
  • Manage materials control associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of PIV equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with the planning and scheduling area to ensure that the materials to cover the production schedule released are properly kitted and ready for assembly.
  • Ensuring associates have adequate training and knowledge of safety procedures to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure the proper kitting process and material on-time delivery to assembly in exact quantities as needed.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for downtime due to lack of material and lead cross-functional teams to develop sustainable solutions to correct it.
  • Establish handling practices, protocols, and team goals to achieve an efficient operation.
  • Responsible for driving leadership: identify needs and gaps, and build competence plans to meet the short- and long term business needs.
  • Train and supervise associates engaged in material handling and supermarket activities.
  • Optimize material flow related to direct labor headcount through CI and lean activities.
  • Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees.
  • Coordinate activities with other areas to ensure smooth material flow through the process.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure the Kohler Material management System (KMMS) and Product Flow System (KPFS) implementation and certifications for AFO.
  • Manage and define supermarkets, Kanban’s, smart-buffers, material feeding flow and signal, and other advanced material storage or replenishment solutions.
  • Definition of required logistics equipment (specifications and quantities).
  • Optimize Supply Chain operations related to direct labor headcount through CI activities.
  • Ensure deployment of best practices regarding warehouse, conveyance and line feeding activities.
  • Develop and maintain PFEP for all components and purchased parts.
  • Design, implement and maintain the material flow within the facility by troubleshooting and preventing material shortages or bottlenecks by determining cause and designing, testing, validating, and implementing solutions. Internal Communication: For internal & partner use only
  • Improve end-to-end material flow applying lean principles and business excellence tools.
  • Identify & improve cost/waste reduction opportunities through CI and Lean approach.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement and lean supply chain initiatives.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset and promote culture with a sense of urgency/excellence.
  • Maintain established goals and objectives to monitor labor efficiency and control costs. Oversee recommendations of approvals of promotions, merit increases, transfers, leaves of absence, and other personnel changes.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, or a management-related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with proven results in materials, production control, inventory control, Warehousing, Supermarket, Logistics Engineering, material flow and PFEP experience.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement certification, or equivalent experience is necessary to succeed in this role.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, material flow and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to design material routes, supermarket, min-max and other Lean material flow solutions.
  • Ability to conduct end user training.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, material flow and distribution of goods.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and process improvement approach
  • Expertise in SAP for Logistics, Materials Management, and WM.

The salary range for this position is $87,450 - $111,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
